Paraframe II - Stainless, Fine Edge
The largest of the eight knives in the Paraframe series, the Paraframe II is based on the same minimal frame-lock design. It’s a beautifully simple open frame knife with a fine-edge locking blade that is lightweight, easy to clean and opens effortlessly. I have purchased and either lost or given away four Gerber folding knives. The quality is so impressive, I just have to share.
In Canada, this knife sells for about $45, similar to what I paid for the Gators that have slipped through my fingers. Fantastic price-point for a knife of this quality.
The blade is awesome (Gerber. Duh...) There is zero slop in the hinge in either plane, I have no worries about putting this knife to work.
The belt clip remains very effective, meaning I am not constantly checking for it in the heavy bush.
It is easy to open, lightweight, and even aesthetically pleasing. I love the feel.
My only issue would be that it lacks a real lanyard option, the blade precludes using one of the holes in the handle.
But that is a minor quibble. VERY pleased with this knife. I do carry it every day. Looking forward to using it mushroom picking this year.
I found this last winter, in the snow in downtown Toronto. A nice, simple pocket knife. It holds its own against my primary pocket knife: Spyderco AUS-8 stainless knife (with the serrated edge). Two different knives with different uses. Mind you, my favourite small knife continues to be my DH Russell Grohmenn #3 stainless steel fixed blade..
I love that knife.
This was the knife that starter it all. First Herber I ever owned and the one that got me hooked to Gerber.
I have been mercilessly abusing the fine blade version of this knife for over 5 years. Easy to sharpen, comfortable in use, easy to open with one hand.
My only issue had been the tiny screws that secure the clip. I lost one, and the remaining two require constant adjustment.
For the price, the knife has held up well, and been an excellent performer.
I recently lost my knife I've had for several years. I love the weight and the quality of the blade and design. It has such a Nice feel to it.
I have to order a replacement. I carried the last one everywhere and I feel lost without it.
One great Knife.
This is the second one that I have owned, both purchased in Afghanistan, at the FOB Shank PX. The first one was lost somewhere in Logar or Wardak Province. Both were very good (that's why I purchase the second one). I would have preferred to have the clip "hinge down" but have not had any issues with the clip being loose (and I will say that I have tested that aspect on numerous occasions under some interesting conditions). It is a very good knofe and will be looking for several more to go into my EDC bags at home.
I got this knife and at first it was nice. I regularly oiled it and looked after it well. only a few weeks later large amounts of rust developed. The knife then got worse, as the screws where faulty and woudnt open. The frame lock closes dangerously when doing simple tasks and the pocket clip is terrible. It really is very bad.
Carried this knife for amost3 years. By far the best everyday knife I have ever had.
I OWN FOUR PARAFRAMES AND THE BEST BLADE I OWN. I USE ONE AT WORK TO CUT BOXES AND THE BLADE IS STILL SHARP AND I SHARPEN THE BLADE AND IT HOLDS ITS EDGE. GERBER MAKES THE BEST BLADES YOU CAN BUY. I RECENTLY HAD TO GET PART FOR A PAARFRAME AND I WAS HELPED WITH THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE BEST
I own a different model of this knife and it works perfectly as an edc knife, but l would like to see this knife with a ti grey coating.
Great design, decent blade, balanced pretty good. I would perfer if the pocket clip was hinge-down, but other than that, the knife is pretty good. I use it almost everyday, and the blade is still almost as sharp as when I first got it (about 4 months ago)
Knife cuts well only problem is that it needs tobe sharpened very often especially if working with cardboard
Bought Elsewhere. Took some time to get used to it. Now I am well pleased with it. I now feel used to it Blade is sharp. Will last a long time.
Great knife! And I know this one will last a very long time.
a very sharp knife. and really durable !
Opens quickly and easily, blade is razor sharp and stays that way. Best knife for the price for sure. I bought this knife looking for something I can use everyday for opening things, but also for self defence. So far I haven't had to pull it out to use on a human but I know if I had to, it could save my life.
Bought my first Gerber knife at my first duty station in 1985 and have own many Gerber's ever sense then. I lost my first Paraframe while training for deployment to Iraq and went right out the next day and bought another one. I still have it and use it regularly.
I bought this knife a few weeks ago and I liked it up until yesterday. The handle, while made to be lighter, leaves just enough room for my finger to get in there. I was in my car and reached for it to put it away and in the closed position I cut my finger right open. I've owned knives all my life and I know how to handle them but this just seems like a poor design. I will definitely not be using this anymore.
I purchaced this knife yesterday at target for $24, has a razor sharp edge and opens incredibly easy.Seems like it has solid quality and great balance.
I've had this knife for years now. 2 of them actually. First one, the clip bent easily so I could no longer keep it in attached. Kept slipping out of my pocket. Second one, the clip has held up for years but the plastic washers on the inside have worn out. So when it is open and closed the blades edge hits on the frame. Ruining the edge. Very hard to keep a sharp usable edge on the blade because of this. I will not buy another one. Will look for another blade, probably from a different manufacturer.
had it for 10 years best knife ever! can't go wrong with gerber! theks gerber for being reliable
By far the best knife i have ever bought but the pocket clip loosens very fast and i cant kind a standard or metric allen wrench to fit it so i can tighten it
If only they made a UK legal version, as in non locking? Please gerber? Please? Or even a series of UK legal knives for us British!!! =D
I couldn't find my Old Timer and needed a knife at work so I went and purchased this one. Love it! One of the best knives I have ever owned. The clip is nice and tight so I don't have to worry about it slipping out of my pocket.
It's incredibly easy to open and lock, has a satisfying click when locked, can easily be folded with one hand, but won't budge unless the lock is opened.
Feels sturdy and has a fair weight. I don't know what's up with the "Weak Pocket Clip" report, if anything it's a bit tough to slip on your pocket because the clip is so tight.
I love this knife it is very though and stiffly locked when open but I don't wear it much because the pocket clip is so weak it falls out of my pocket whenever I bend over, etc. If it had a stronger clip I would have bought many more.
Exelent knife for the money. Light, easy to carry, opens nice and smooth with a flick of your thumb. Suberb everyday pocket knife.
I got this knife for christmas and it is the best one I have ever owned. You can open it with one hand.
This knife is by far THE BEST I have ever owned!
