Paraframe II Tanto
Like the swing weight of an old baseball bat, the feel of an evenly balanced knife in your grip adds to its performance. The Gerber Paraframe II is such a knife. This large, folding tactical knife features a skeletonized cast metal handle that complements its full-size tanto-style blade, and is designed to meet the needs of law enforcement personnel on the job.
In the line of duty, an everyday carry knife needs to offer more than just a reliable edge and a stealth finish. Like a good pair of duty boots, it needs to rise to the rigors of daily use, offering comfortable grip, blade versatility and all-around durability. The Paraframe II delivers: Rounded handle edges fit comfortably in your hand, while the partially serrated 3.5-inch carbon steel blade can do it all from sawing through stubborn materials to offering a fine point that’s ready to rise to a critical occasion.
Just like in daily life, it’s the details in this knife that make all the difference. With decades of design experience, Gerber knows the details that give a knife its service utility. Twin knurled thumb studs offer quick and easy blade engagement. The bomber frame lock offers positive blade control and added safety, while the durable black titanium nitride coating offers a stealth, professional appearance. A stout pocket clip helps keep your knife handy.

only issue I had with this knife was that it came dull out of the box, it seemed like it was never sharpened. haven't been able to get it as sharp as I would like
This is undoubtedly the best pocket knife I've ever owned (and seemingly ever will) for utilitarian use. This knife is always with me as a staple of everyday life much like I'm always with my watch and wallet.
Wether I'm using the knife to glide through packing tape, slice off bites from an apple on the trail, or any of the other infinite uses I seem to find for knives, this one stays sharp and always reliable.
As a culinarian and outdoorsman, I love the crossover between the two lifestyles the design of this knife has. The Titaniun Nitride (a non-stick ceramic) coating is as durable that in high-end commercial cookware. As for balance, it's significantly better than what I would expect of a high-end, forged Solingen steel knife from Germany of similar proportions and with matched comfort in my large hands.
On top of everything, the aesthetic is wonderful as well. Discreet, sleek, rugged and intimidating.
I loved this knife, I used it for hiking, and I bring it with me when I mtb .The other day I was cutting a branch of a dead acacia tree and the tip of the knife broke off !! Icouldnt believe it.
This knife exudes power; it looks intimidating and solid. The lock is indeed tight to open with one hand, but nothing a bit of practice and callus can't handle.
great knife! the tip is easy to chip though :(
Pretty good looking. Hope to get one soon
It has loosened some with play, other wise it is a stellar knife I have never disliked a paraframe.
I am always looking for an honest opinion so I am going to try and give mine. I only buy Gerber knives and this is a very good knife, it is very sturdy and most knives with a frame lock can sometimes have issues but not with this one. It is a large knife (larger than I had expected) and the serrated edge is longer than most Gerber blades (I found this quite useful but some people might not). I personally love Tanto blades so this was great for me and it gave it a bit of a leverage when whittling. The thumb studs and pocket clip are very useful, overall this is a very good knife and I plan on buying it again.
I just got this knife and already love it. A co-worker of mine has it and I liked it so much I got it myself. This a fairly large and hefty knife. Good weight and great feel in the hands.
I love this knife I bought it for myself a while back I think around August and it came very sharp and it still is and it has been through a lot. It is well balanced and I like the Black finish. One problem that I have with this knife is that it is very difficult to open with one hand but other than that it still is very secure and is very light. It's an awesome knife.
knife came relatively sharp out of the box, but have a few issues with it. the lock is exceptionally tight, and the screws for the pocket clip are basically stripped straight out of the box. To make matters worse, the straight edge is actually sharpened over some of the serrations. I have the paraframe i, and have not had any of these issues with it. I bought this to give to my friend, and am too embarrassed to give it to him. I have been a HUGE supporter of gerber products and have spent hundreds of dollars, but they need to check the quality of each knife before packaging. This isn't a deal breaker to me to switch to another company, but it is definitely disappointing. For these reasons i cannot give this knife anything greater then a 3 star rating. Would i recommend this knife to someone else? can't say i would right now
Very lightweight, not too bulky, perfect for everyday carry. The locking mechanism makes it tough to open one-handed, but since it's built into the frame, I feel the lock is more secure. Definitely a great balance between knife quality and price.
The Paraframe II is a great EDC workhorse of a knife. It's solid construction, balance in the hand and weight offer a level confidence for any task. The new for 2013, addition of a serrated Tanto blade make the Paraframe II even better. It's inexpensive, proven reliability and great looks make it a knife I highly recommend.
The knife is a great everyday carry knife. It is finely balanced and lightweight in my hand, and the black finish doesn't draw attention. I also noticed that the lock that keeps the blade fixed in place is actually part of the frame itself. Pretty smart, but a tad harder to use.
However, it is almost impossible to open one-handed, and the blade did come in slightly dull. Nothing that can't be fixed though. Great knife!
