Gatormate - Clip Point, Fine Edge
Ever notice how alligators are completely indifferent to the weather? Well these prized knives are kinda the same, because they perform to their fullest whether the conditions are wet or dry. If there's a job to be done, our Gator Folders are more than up to it. But that's not just Gerber talking. Heck, when we debuted the Gator Folders back in 1991, the insightful attendees at Blade Show named our reptilian creation as the Most Innovative Knife of the Year. And our competitors did the voting... Acclaimed those fourteen years ago and as popular as ever today, the Gator Folder employs advanced thermoplastics with an alligator skin texture to deliver a stunningly reliable, ultimately comfortable grip. Who could have guessed that the feel of reptile scales would be so satisfying? Anyway, there are seven models to choose from. Each with a lock-back mechanism. And each with a blade made of stainless steel that's as rugged as they come.

One of my favorites..!! I wore mine on my belt for for many years when I was on active dute in the military. I still take it out for camping or hiking. This knife stays sharp under light use, but I sometimes sharpen after heavy use. I love it..!!
I have one of these, with about half of the blade serrated, that I've had since around 1991 or 1992 (issued to me by my miliary unit back then). I wore it everywhere while in Utility Uniform, and wore it most places in civilian attire as well. I still use this knife regularly today, and it has always served me flawlessly..! The only time this knife was not my primary knife (while in the military) was when I was serving in combat operations, whereas my Gerber Mark II became the primary knife. I still had my "Gator" on me somewhere, though, because it is so versitile and comfortable to use. What a fine product..!!! 5 STARS for sure..!!
I sent in my old Gerber blade because the tip bent, and they don't make it anymore. So much to my surprise they sent this knife as a replacement knife...I'm 6'3'' tall and have been a carpenter all my life no need to describe what kind of hands I have, holding this knife is impossible for me the handle is to short.
I sent in my original knife on the fifth of June 2013 and I just received this Gator mate today is the 26 of June.
The customer service gave me the run around no tracking number and the carrier DHL well they left the package at my door without a simple knock at my door.
This customer ain't a happy camper !
I have carried a "Gator-mate" for years. This is the knife that is either in my day pack, or pocket when hunting.
Whether I am hunting white tails, elk, or birds this is all the knife I need.
The gator mate holds its edge well, and though small in size (for what most people think) it will do any reasonable job it is required to do.
The blade is still solid at the folding hinge point after years of use.
This is something that many other folders fail at.
Their hinge pins loosen after just a little use.
Compact and light, this is a knife that is worthy of a serious look for anyone who hunts.
