the Gerber freeman is a beast. it's one of the most reliable knifes out there. i have already gutted a deer with it. the gut hook came in handy. IT's best uses is gutting and skinning animals. hope this was helpful

I'm a little disappointed. Opened up the package, looked at the gut part of the knife and it has a nick in it. Tried the gut edge on a piece of paper and it didn't slice through like I expected. Not what I expected from Gerber.

This knife is amazing! I bought this because I wanted a gut hook knife, and I could not have made a better purchase. The grip is amazing, the knife is heavy for maximum control, the blade keeps its edge nicely, and the hook is very useful. My favorite knife I've ever owned by far!

I bought one of these on Dec 22, 2011 at the local sporting goods store. From my time in the military, I have always heard great things about Gerber knives and have owned their multitool myself and never had an issue. I was completely surprised when I opened the package and discovered the onlays were loose, the knife was dirty (and I don't mean the oil on the blade to keep it from rusting, there is actual dirt inside the handle) and the blade was dull. I understand this is an inexpensive knife, but I did not realize it would require assembly or is a used knife.
