Ready at a moment's notice, the highly visual orange case is easy to locate and operate on the fly. There are 12 replacement blades in the cavity, safely extracted without worry of reaching into a bag for a loose blade. The waste compartment keeps used blades in one place.
Twelve replacement blades are housed within the Vital Replacement Blade’s simple high-visual container. These are for use in conjunction with the Vital Fixed Blade EAB and the Vital Pocket Folder EAB. The replacement blades reduce waste in the woods, and the Vital container affords easy extraction for safe application.
The Gerber Vital series is a great knife with many uses..
That being said it seems that Gerber's replacement blades for it are overpriced..
My Son bought the Vital @ a local pawn shop minus the blade, I traded him one of my EZ-Outs for it & then set out to find blades for it that aren't $19 per dozen or more..
The blade gerber uses is a #60XT Stainless..
Bass Pro Shop has these blades plus the Havalon Piranta blades too which are the same exact blades minus the orange receptacle, Gerber = $17.99 & Havalon = $7.99 per dozen.. You decide..
I will note that Gerber's blade latch mechanism is superior to Havalon's which is plastic, The knives are pretty much the same price @ $44.99ea.
These replacement blades are definitely too pricey! I'll just throw my gerber vital folder away before I spend this on these little razor blades!! I love the idea of this knife and it does cut through the rib cage of whitetail deer but I can sharpen my case double x for free!!
I just wanted to say that the Item # 31-002739, is way beyond over priced. And, they dull very fast. I wish I had never purchased this knife. Is it handy? Yes, it is. But not at this price range. If you cu the price to a third of what it is now, then you would have something valuable. Then I would not have to re sharpen the ones I have. Nor would I have to create my own. Not that I want to put my self out of business making and sharpening these blades for others, but, you are able to serve the community better than I am. Take this into consideration.
