The idea is simple: always be prepared. The Dime is a mini multi-tool with an impressive list of features, ensuring you are ready for anything. This butterfly open tool fits on your keychain yet has 12 useful tools. Available in multiple colors and a bladeless version as well.
The Dime Travel takes Gerber’s clever mini keychain multi-tool and adds features for use during and after air travel. This is a bladeless keychain multi-tool, making it safe for use in facilities with a no-knife standard, as well as for the airport security line. It suspends neatly from a keychain and provides resource for a wide swath of problem-solving potential. With its series of useful tools, including spring-loaded needle nose pliers, the tiny, lightweight Dime spins out assistance as needed.
For people who rely on a multi-tool, the carefully selected range of the Dime Travel’s tool series is a recognizable asset. In addition to stainless steel pliers and wire cutters that elegantly butterfly open, there’s a set of spring-loaded scissors, medium and small flat drivers, tweezers, a bottle opener that is exposed even when the tool is closed, and a fine and coarse file. The stand-out addition to this travel-friendly version of the classic Gerber Dime is the evolutionary zipper hook, which attaches to a broken luggage zipper in a pinch.
While this is a keychain multi-tool, the Dime Travel doesn’t skimp on elegance in design. From the smooth butterfly open of its sturdy needle nose pliers to the well engineered, comfortably ergonomic handles, the lithe Dime Travel is at the ready to manage obstacles. Pocket this cool little multi-tool whenever you’re headed out of town.
The Dime Travel has become a valued asset for Me as I go through My day wearing Mobility Assisting Devices (Leg Braces). Since there is always a chance of a hinge pin or screw coming lose while in the field I require a device that can go with Me everywhere, especially through Airports and the Dime does just that. It's become such an asset that I've picked up two for reserve in the event I lose the current one.
I like the zipper pull idea OK, but is the retail package opener really considered a blade? I use the retail package opener the most of any function on the tool. I would buy this one also if it had the retail package opener instead of the zipper hook. Not going to be attacking anyone with either of those functions on the tool anyways.
After searching online for the perfect mini multitool, I was lead to the Dime. Great tool, in my opinion. Small well constructed, the tools are accesible from the out side without opening. Mind you this is is perfect for small jobs like opening packages (ala the package tool), boxes (knife is sharp but dulls easily from use), paper cutting (scissors are pretty sturdy), bottle opener (I had given up on these due to the fact that most usually take more than one attempt, the Dime does not).
The pliers are good for what they are for, small jobs, they are not subs for full pliers. I bought in the tactical black and at first it was a little difficult to open (I actually like the fact that it seems sturdy and not flimsy like other novelty pocket tools I've owned in the past (good for banking not working tools, lol).
Overall, I am completely satisfied with the great looking and functioning product that I carry every day. I have owned Paraframes and currently have and use the Evo jr for EDC. I've got my eye on the titanium Suspension next. See my video review.
Awesome but the plier blade could be stronger. need warranty info please
The dime is so functional with all of its tools. The dime fits in your pocket and you will hardly feel it being there.
