I bought this knife when the airline took the one I packed. Love it.
Best knife I've bought
good knife i recamend
this was my first gerber but not my last this knife i got 4 my 14th birthdat may 20 2014
it a good knife but why did they discontinoue it
Got this knife today and the clip and handle looked worn. You could see the silver on the pocket clip. Also when closed the knife made a loud rattling sound.
I've carried this knife DAILY for over 5 years. Finally showing its age and wanting a new one, but it's discontinued???
You don't make ANYTHING else that has all of this:
-flat sided so junk can't collect in the "tacticool" paraframe holes
-serrated 3" blade
-oversized pocket clip (so you don't have to stand there and fiddle with trying to put it back in your pocket)
-TIP UP CARRY (HELLO!!!)
-mechanical opening (NOT that spring loaded crap you can't close easily one handed without pushing on a razor right next to your fingers)
I combed through your website and found nothing that does what this knife used to do for you. So I had to go buy a new one from a distributor who had a stock of them on Ebay.
It's simple, it's elegant, it's affordable, and it does the job 90% of people need a knife to do. Bring it back, please!!!
I think it's a good knife but the studs at too far up on the blade
This knife is fantastic for just about anything, i use it for everything, I've had it for about a week and a half. I love the smooth one hand opening, overall great knife, no regrets.
I've had this knife for a couple weeks now, and I like it quite a bit. It's plenty sharp and does the job. Flipper is a bit small though. I have it with me almost all the time, including right now.
I love the kniife but the aluminum handle gets beat up eseay, but I love the knife
This knife was my very first Gerber knife I ever bought. It made me the Gerber customer I am. This was my very favorite knife. In fact, the only reason I say was is because I did not sell or trade the knife, but I lost it in my house. I literally lost my favorite knife in my own house. If you can find this knife and you are not looking to spend a fortune on a knife, buy this one. This was my EDC knife for almost 3 years before I lost it. (Since losing my Traverse, I bought a Remix fine edge and it currently serves as my EDC.)
Best knife ever, period. I use this as my everyday knife. I bring this to boy scout camp with me and is does everything i need it too. It is so easy to open with the thumb stud on the back, a very small flick of the wrist is all it takes.
To open it it takes a small flick of the wrist with the knob on the back. It is my favorite of my collection of 8. I am a boy scout and it does everything i need it too. I have had it for around 4 years now, it still works perfictely.
I have no clue why people say the thumb studs don't work. They are flush with the handle, you have to press on the blade stud and then you can use the thumb studs. In my opinion the design is great, you can quickly open it by pressing the blade stud and using a flick of the wrist, or press the blade stud and slide open quietly with the thumb studs.
This knife has made me a Gerber buyer for life! Do need to keep up with blade maintenance as it will go dull but only after extended daily use on the construction site doing everything and anything I need it to! Wish it was still in production though.
This knife is in my pocket right now, and I carry it just about everywhere. However, after a few weeks of use, the axel of the blade got jammed up and was in no way able to open with one hand. Somehow, it fixed itself and now it works good as new. I don't know why some other reviews say they've had problems with the quality. I never have.I still don't know why it's been discontinued though...
This blade has never let me down. It has stayed sharp and been used in many live major level rock shows (Kansas, Foreigner, Blue Oyster Cult, Styx, etc.) for multiple reasons and performed well. I feel naked without this knife as it saved me once from being jumped by two guys as I clicked this little bad boy out and they stopped in their tracks as they saw i meant business and was in a fighting stance. It has my vote, sad it's discontinued.
This has been my EDC knife for 3 years now, and it's been able to handle everything I've thrown at it. The handle feels better than you'd expect from aluminum, especially in a reverse grip. The silver finish on the aluminum also tarnished quickly, but I like it. It gives the knife a worn-in look. The blade is somewhat high-maintenance, going dull quickly but easy to sharpen, even the serrations, and again the finish isn't the best. The blade has about a quarter-inch of play when closed, but I've never had a problem with it. It locks solid when open. The knife as a whole can take what it needs to and not complain.
This knife is my first brand name knife but my review of it is not in anyway biased because of this. I have used many knives and compared to the rest this is one of my favorites by far. I just picked it up today and was joyed over how the thumbstud is flush with the handle. Most other knives open easily if stored in your pocket over time by the thumbstud getting caught. I wish the tang stud was larger but it will have to do. Now all that is left is to get a full-auto gerber knife and the ultimate knife as well as hunt down a tanto serrated varient of the traverse.
Yes, you heard me, this knife is a P O S. Virtually zero hold on the blade in the closed position, the blade practically falls open under its own weight. I value my fingers too much to carry this thing around. Avoid. Oh wait, it's been discontinued, I wonder why???
Compared to everything else I've got in this price range, this is trash. I payed the same for a Spyderco Tenacious and its a lot better in every way. The lock on this is the worst I've ever used. Can be easily disengaged with a small amount of pressure. Blade and handle materials are low grade and cheap. After only two weeks of use, the black finish on the blade and handle started coming off. Also, the pocket clip is weak and easy to break. And the thumb studs keep loosening. On that thought they are useless because there is no way to get your thumb onto it to open it. There should have been a flattened area leading up to the thumb stud. Absolutely no jimping. The tip broke from stabbing a cardboard box. Also, a lot of left, right, forward, and back movement. Avoid this knife at all costs. I regret ever buying this. Not worth $10.
Got this knife as a gift, and I must say I'm surprised at how sharp it is. One of my more sharp knives I have, but still no match against my Smith and Wesson Border Guard knife that cost around the same price.
Had problem with locking mech, after extended use Had replacement in hand within a week.
Great knife for cutting and simple sawing. carry it everywhere easy to get out of your pocket and open with one hand
I use this knife daily at work. Mostly cutting plastic straps and shrink film. After about 3 weeks of daily use the blade went dull. Brand new it was like a razor blade, now you have to saw at to cut. I had it sharpened and in another 3 weeks its dull again. This blade does not retain its edge very well.
i got htis for christmas and it was my favorite knive
Good knife but when i flip out the balde the star screw gets really loose and the blade has some play but really good knife.
great knife amazing price for Quality it saved my life three days ago i was on a boat and it flipped i had to cut my way out this knife rocks!
great knife fast deployment but the thumb studs are flush with the handles on both sides so using the thumb studs to deploy is usless but using the blade stud in the back sideofthe blade makes for quick deployment i can deploy this knife faster than my buddys fully auto gerber ...all and all this is a greatknife and so is all of gerber
best knife i ever owned lost 4 body screws in the process of getting replacement screws even with one body screw i use the knife lots daily
Love the knife, but the black paint on the handle bubbles and comes off, even with minimal use.
Awesome knife!! However, all of the black on the knife wears off pretty quickly... Other than that this is a very good knife!
Although I wish the handle were a little heavier and more ergonomic, this is still one of my favorite pocket knives. For a manual with a flipper the Traverse opens very fast. My only complaint is the tiny size of the flipper. This is also the sharpest
I just got this yesterday. I love the serrated edge & the liner-lock design. The lock is really sturdy. I recommend this knife to anyone looking for a basic, strong, light, heavy-duty knife.
