GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife
The Gerber GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife has one goal: Be there for the tasks you should never have to take on without a blade. If you’ve ever bitten off a tag with your teeth, opened a well-sealed envelope with a car key, or broken down a refrigerator-sized cardboard box with bare hands, you know exactly what we’re talking about.
But your pocket knife should never put a scratch down the face of your gleaming, new smartphone as they jostle around in your bag or front pocket. Which is why we’ve wrapped this one in a protective, non-scratch coating to protect the other, more sensitive tools you may have.
DOES EVERYTHING YOU WANT, AND NOTHING YOU DON'T
The GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife can handle all the day-to-day tasks an everyday carry should, but what it doesn’t do is the hidden beauty of this compact knife. With no metal showing when closed, it will never scratch the other daily essentials you carry with you, like your phone, tablet or laptop. And at a compact 3.4 inches when closed, it will never hog space in your pocket or bag.
Its sharp, 2.5-inch, drop point blade is always there in your bag or pocket, ready to help you open a package, sharpen a pencil or cut a sandwich to share with a friend. Made of stainless steel, the blade resists rust and corrosion and holds a sharp, fine edge. The lock back safety function means that blade won’t fold up in the middle of your handiwork.
COMPACT, YET GRIPPY
Though compact, the handle is made from grippy rubberized Techhide with an added rubberized thumb stud on each side, so it’s easy to keep a firm grip as you cut, chop or slice.

Can't say enough about the piece. Great design, practical, light. Genius!
Love this knife. Thought it might be too small but its actually the perfect size for everything I need out of an edc knife.
awesome knife use mine all time left on hood car open drove off fell off at 50mph no damage razor sharp ready to rock
It's always nice to have as sharp knife with you and not having to worry about it damaging or scratching other things in my pocket!! I love the rubberized techhide handle!! Gerber should put the techhide handle on more knifes!!
Attractive design. Compact size. Stays extremely sharp. excellent for everyday use.
Good blade, worked for almost a month then the lock broke. Waste of money
This is a great pocket knife, i got a few weeks ago,and i dont leave the house without it i put a razor sharp edge on it. Just love it !
The knife is really awesome, and safe to carry in your pocket, or just carrying it in your hand. The only downside to this knife is, the thumb studs. Since this knife has no exposed metal, the thumb studs are to close to the handle of the knife, which makes it hard to open with one hand. But in my opinion, this is the safest knife I've ever seen.
I have given this knife to relatives and friends as gifts because it is so well made and so durable for the price. The best part of this knife though is the highly compact size so you can actually carry it in politically "progressive" regions that would otherwise out you in jail for having a tool on your person. This is the only knife I CARRY even though I own far more expensive knives such as Helle brand knives from Norway or the famous Randall Made Knives.
Perfect still works great ! but i do not carry a smartphone so i wouldn't know if it scratches them or not.
this knife is awesome is easy to sharpen
I love it. The knife just cut open boxes and other thing
This knife is in my pocket everyday when I'm in the office! I absolutely love the grip of this knife. My only complaint is one of the thumb studs came off but a little super glue fixed it up fine!
I don't own this but I would've had it if the handle had a lanyard hole :)
Great knife. I love the wrubber on the handle. It's a perfect knife.
This knife is awesome it do what it i do it slice apple clean and have a good edge
I am mind blown that the Gdc tech skin pocket knife i put hard use to in and it never have a dull edge on i really like GERBER!!!!
best design for an edc knife.its great but there are some points that can make this knife even better.
1- a better steel type... 7cr17 really ? (there are tons of better steels for an edc)
2-a lanyard hole (optional)
3-a little pocket clip (optional)
this little one has one of the best designs for an edc but as a knife lover I believe there are situations that an edc should do a survival knifes job so it should be a bastard knife
I've had my GDC Tech blade for a months now. I give it very high marks. The blade is much more substantial than my Swiss Army Classic on my key chain. It has a great heft and a strong feel for such a small blade. I only have two criticisms: 1) Closing the blade feels awkward and slow. 2) I still have to carry my SA blade because it has a variety of tools that the Gerber doesn't.
I really like the idea the knife and I really like it my only complaint is that I would like it to be a bit bigger it just seems to small to me but still a great knife
Provides functionality and concealment without being cumbersome. Perfect for my first EDC knife
It comes down to materials used with this one and rubber is the way to go. wont slip out of your jeans and gives you the best grip possible for whatever you need. The button unlock is awesome and easier than your standard pull to one side unlock. great edc
I was extremely happy with all aspects of this knife until it started falling apart. The thumbstuds came loose first but the knife was fine without them. Then, the rubber "skin" quickly showed signs of wear. The latest issue is the the lock mechanism doesn't hold up and the knife can be closed without it. If it wasn't for the poor durability, I'd rate this knife much higher.
This knife fills the gap where, as you say, a pocket knife should not damage electronics, plastic/glass eyeglass lenses ect.
I wish you had provided a model with a few serations (4 or more) toward the hilt.
I am a Gerber Fan, and this looks like a great knife, but I don't see it replacing my Swiss Army Classic SD as a daily carry. Though I might add it anyway just so I have a more substantial blade.
Small, yet a comfortable fit in the hand. Sharp blade, too. Disappears into your pocket. The safety lock can be tricky, but otherwise, it's a fine product. It is the go-to EDC knife for everyone, as far as I'm concerned.
This is the best ever day utility knife I have ever used. The only way to make this better would be if the handle had a lanyard hole to turn the knife in to a key chain.
Got it today. Amazing little knife. Came really sharp, though I can always hone it to razor-sharp with little effort (it's almost there, anyway). It's thinner and more slender than video/pictures lead on, but not terribly. Feels very nice, but only complaint is that when it moves (shakes), it kinda makes a little tiny rattling noise. It's probably just the safety mechanism or something, but still. Nothing that detracts anyway. Great knife.
Received this today as an anniversary present from my girlfriend, and already I have fallen in love with this knife.
I've been a fan of Gerber for years now, and although their products can sometimes be hit and miss in terms of manufacturing quality (since exporting their manufacturing base to China), this one is certainly a winner.
First off, the aesthetics are ace; it simply looks beautiful, open or closed.
The blade itself seems good quality, and comes plenty sharp enough. The rubber handle is soft enough as not to damage anything in your pocket, but still firm enough to get a decent grip. The knife initially feels a bit too light, but once it's opened, the redistributed weight gives it a much better balance. I'm also a huge fan of the locking mechanism, it has that reassuringly firm click shut, without being difficult to open or close.
The absolute best part about this knife, and one of the main reasons that I wanted it, is how practical yet non-threatening it is. Living in the UK, one has to be very careful about which knife to choose as an EDC. Whilst most knives are technically illegal for daily carry, it mostly comes down to the discretion of the officer you talk to. Most are kind enough to look the other way for a multi-tool of small folder, just something that's functional but doesn't take the p*ss. They have a particular thing about knives that either have assisted-opening (such as a spring) or that you can open with a wrist-flick.
Now I have no intention of stabbing anyone, but I can understand why my previous EDC would look suspicious to a police officer. A great knife, but with a long blade, wicked serrations, and easy to open with one hand, they would almost certainly have considered it threatening.
This knife, however, is slim enough to avoid detection, and small enough as to not appear threatening, must be opened with two hands, but still remains an incredibly practical carry!
In case you can't tell by the rant, I love this knife. Would purchase again.
When I first received the knife i found it was much smaller than what I thought which was a very good thing. It looked large for an EDC pocket carry. This just the right size, weight and grippy texture that an EDC knife needs. The blade came SUPER SHARP! The sharpest factory blade i've ever gotten. Amazing knife! Gerber, this is your year!
Seems like the perfect EDC knife for anyone living in new york. this is because you have the 2.5 blade making it legal to carry in new york city and the non scratch coating means you can safely have it in your pocket and not worry. NY law states you can't have anything showing (clips, tips, handle) so it seems like the perfect edc.
