Paraframe I - Stainless, Serrated
Like all eight knives in the Paraframe series, the Paraframe I is based on the same minimal frame-lock design. It’s a beautifully simple, open frame knife with a serrated locking blade that is lightweight, easy to clean and opens effortlessly. Built with a smooth stainless steel handle and a clip for secure travel, the Paraframe I is everything that an everyday carry folder should be.

Great knife over all. Holds a decent edge for a good amount of time and I do have a few complaints there's no opening assist stfu on the back for your finger and out of the box the framelock and the opening are kind of stuff but hey, other than that its worth the 17 dollars I paid for it.
This knife has been my daily driver for maybe 6 or 7 years, and has seen very heavy daily use in an industrial parts shop as well as camping and whatnot. It is indestructible. It feels great in my hand and has the kind of balance and stability I find in my non-folding premium knives. It has been wet for extended periods, hammered, heated, twisted, used to pry, and abused in all kinds of ways--and shows no signs of wear.
I have lost a couple of parts over the years, but in both cases I just dropped an email to customer service and they shipped replacement parts the same day! It holds an edge quite well and does not resist sharpening too much--i'd say it strikes a balance here. This knife has outlasted all other knives I have owned.
As THE WHIZ said in an earlier review, I wish I could give 6 stars.
**I would recommend doping the assembly hardware with thread locker and tweaking the pivot bolt to your preferred hinge stiffness.**
This knife is awesome! Carried with me every day for 2 years. Unfortunately my knife has been stolen and I am going to buy another one. Great knife, great memories.
I would give this knife a "6" if I could. Have owned it for 3+ years, carry it every day. It is useful for gardening, work, opening boxes, cutting ropes and vines, just about everything. Best pocket knife I have ever owned.
Had the same one in my pocket for as long as I can remember.
You can adjust the hinge a little bit with a star- head screwdriver and a bit of light weight gun oil. After that, it should easily flick open.
My wife gave me mine a couple of years ago and I always carry it. With a little bit of oil and practice I can easily open it with one hand. Great knife!!
Great knife, but cant open with one hand. The thumb posts don't do anything. Otherwise love it.
I work at a shooting range and use my knife almost every day. It is a fantastic knife. It holds an edge very well, it is very sharp due to my sharpening skills, and it is super light. Clips well on my pocket also. Only thing is, I beat it up pretty good on a daily basis, and there are a few tiny spots where rust has formed, although a little cleaning takes care of that easily. GREAT knife 10/10.
I am a college student and ROTC cadet who uses his knife for just about everything. I've used my Paraframe for everything from field-dressing small animals to carving wooden sculptures. I used it mainly for cutting general, everyday materials like ropes, 550-cord, and packaging tape. The handle is wide enough that you can get your whole hand around it, but skinny enough you can carry it in your pocket easily.
I loved the positive retention the pocket clip gave me, as I carried it all through every bit training and never lost it, even through low-crawling across asphalt, dirt, and scrubby grass. The edge seemed to hold pretty well, I only had to sharpen it twice in a year.
I didn't like that it took some fiddling to open and lock, although with a bit of oil and some sanding I got it to open one-handed fairly easily.
Overall an excellent knife. I unfortunately had mine stolen, and so I replaced it with the Tanto version of the Paraframe in Oxide Black.
Great knife for the money!
I received this knife as a gift over 5 years ago and have carried it everyday since. It's been an outstanding pocket knife that has endured a significant amount of abuse. I've never had any trouble with opening it with one hand or having it open unintentionally. It's been very smooth. I do have to agree that it does need occasional sharpening, but it takes an edge easily. The clip works well for me and has never hung up even while carrying it in uniform. I did lose one of the small screws that holds the clip, but I will contact Gerber for a replacement. Every bit of 5 stars!
I've had it for a couple of years and it has become my favorite knife. I have several other knives and brands, but when I get dressed to go to work or do things around the house, this is the knife I grab to clip in my pocket. It's not too long so when I stick it in my pocket, I don't know it's there until I need it to do something. It holds an edge for weeks, with daily use, and is almost in every case, large enough to accomplish the task at hand. I've had no issues with some of the negative complaints the other poster's have had except one, I just noticed a couple of the screws have fallen out of the back of the handle. That's why I came to the sight today, to get some replacements. I'll be sure to "Loctite" them in!
If you want a knife that holds an edge, keep looking. This one requires constant attention to keep it sharp. Even closing it will dull the blade. After a year or so the screws holding the clip on and the blade screw will back out easily and have to be tightened on a regular basis. It a good $20 butter knife if you don't mind sharpening it before and after use.
I just got this knife last week in a special edition tin along with the Gerber mini paraframe. The handle is black and the blade is the color of the one in the pic. The knife is just slightly small in my openion and it rides a little high in my pocket. Otherwise, its a good knife from Gerber that seems to be good for edc, possibly hunting, and even extended use. I like it .
The local Walmart had it mismarked for 5$ so I figured I would pick it up. Blade comes fairly sharp nothing too extreme and the action is perfect not to tight or too loose. Well rounded knife for the price even if you do pay the full price. Only complaint is that the finish had some blemishes but its a tool can't complain too much.
I've had one for ~3 years, and now have two. My favorite knife to carry, opens very easily, is light, and clips well in my pocket.
This thing won't keep an edge and requires being sharpened constantly.
It's lasted me for a good several years and it's still going. You just need to sharpen it.
this knife is your everyday carry around knife that will definatly get the job done.i have learned how to flick the knife open using the thumb stud in three different ways.it is a very nice knife overall
Just bought this bad boy and it's already impressed me. Lost my ol' Winchester knife two weeks ago and was real picky on buying a replacement. Saw this one at Lowe's. Love the design and the blade is tough. Looks like Gerber Gear and I have a bright future ahead.
Solid knife with very little play, but I can't call it easy to deploy. It still roughs up my thumb after thousands of openings.
Maybe I should not have oiled it, but even taking a file to the bit that engages the blade to keeep it closed it is hard to open.
Just broke the tip off mine after abusing it daily for close to two years. It was my everything tool for cutting, prying, screwing, etc. My only complaint is its a pain to clip onto your pocket because of the design of the blade lock. It catches on the edge of your pocket 50-60% of the time. If you can live with that, you'll love this thing. Keeps a decent edge too.
I,m VERY VERY HARD on my knives and this one is great it locks steady it holds a edge great its just a all around awesome knife!!!
This knife sucks. It holds a decent edge, but the screws fall out really easily.
its a very durable knife. and i use it every day wether its cuting wire or many things i use it for it does the job! and the blade is easy to sharpen with another knife or something else. very good tool and its all thanks to gerber!...
I've been carrying this knife for two years now in my front pocket. I'm not sure what the guy who said he cut himself while it was closed was doing, because thats pretty impossible. The fit is very secure, in fact at first it was a little too snug and difficult to open. Within a week or two of use though, it was loose enough to open one handed, but not so loose that it falls open ever. Great all purpose knife with the serrated edge as well.
I've had to sharpen it a couple times, but I use it for a LOT of silly things. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good pocket knife. And I've never even had a single spot of rust or pitting on the blade.
I've been a huge fan of Gerber blades for 15+ years. My Paraframe is my favorite yet. Light, sturdy, durable.
Thank you for making such fine folders.
