Tactically inspired yet ideal for everyday use, this knife is designed to fit comfortably in hand and pocket. An ultra-light design partners with a powerful opening mechanism and a G-10 handle for unrivaled stability and ease of use. The ball-bearing pivot feature delivers a smooth opening.
Tactically inspired, the Instant utilizes Gerber’s Assisted Opening 2.0 mechanism for easy, one-handed blade opening. The thumb plunge unlocks the three-and-a-half-inch blade for safe closure. Layers of G-10 composite are textured and shaped to make an ultra-light, ultra-tactile handle. It’s a sleek clip folder made for everyday use.
got this knife about 4 years ago, the tension part inside to flip out the blade was the first part to go, although i likes the knife so much that i continued to carry it until the pocket clip finally caught on something that bent it way out of shape, it was a great knife till the day i had to switch over to another knife. definitely going to buy another when i get the chance
Very substantial knife with a thick blade, but not too heavy due to the lightweight frame and grips. Shape is just perfect for my large hands; slicing and stabbing position are both very solid and secure. Grip texture is great, and the grippy grooves on the shank and near the pivot on the grip fall just right in either position, thumb or heel of the hand. Very easy to open, once you realize you need to push forward on the thumb stud, rather then out, and get a good grip with your fingers resting lightly on the back of the blade. Also, you might need to Dremel down the depression in the grip a bit, to expose more of the thumb stud. Holds an edge well and sharpens easily. Comfortable to wear concealed inside waistband, or clipped to belt. No problems with accidental opening, no problems with the clip... The negative reviews must be from BS troll reviewers, because this knife is close to perfection.
This is more of a follow up to my previous review. I've been carrying this knife for about 5 months now. I recently lost my first one and immediately replaced it because of how much I liked it. After the initial break in and once you've figured out the opening technique, the knife opens smoothly, quickly and powerfully. Comfortable, competent, and strong tool. I would definitely recommend this knife.
I've had this knife for four years and use it almost every day. Only difference since when I got it is that it has some paint worn off and I think that it makes it look sick.
Good knife for taking a beating. Everyday carry and use for anything. The only complaint would be that it has a little rattle when the blade is extended due to the assist spring bar not being completely secured when the blade is open.
Clip bent, and Gerber wouldn't send me a replacement clip. I managed to remove it and fix it. Clip bent again so I sent it in. Impossible to open with one hand. Stays sharp, rugged, and a good feel in my hand once I get it open.
Great feel, fine blade, nice weight. Assisted open is crazy difficult. Seems to be getting better with break in.
Had recieved this knife as a gift for my GF and I's 1year anniversary. The lady friend had the blade engraved on both sides and given to me. only two months of being in my pocket the close button decided to malfunction so i cannot use the knife. its also very unsafe due to the fact that it wont close and the blade is lose not stiff. just a little upset. loved it when it worked fine but who wants to spend this money on a blade that doesnt work on demand?
A trusted knife I never go without. For everyday carry to living life outdoors, this knife tried and true, time and time again.
Love this knife - the only reason I switched out to an Evo Jr Serrated is because my work moved from the warehouse to the office. I still use the Instant out of work everywhere I go.
Clip is flimsy but Gerber customer service more than makes up for it.
Anybody complaining about not being able to open this knife needs to play around with their leverage. It's easy to open, though my friends struggle with it because they don't understand the proper angle. Don't walk away from a great knife just because you can't find the sweet spot.
Great knife but the clip keeps breaking off. I've had it replaced 2-3 times. Need to work on the clip.
I used this knife daily for work and it never failed me till the tip cracked and the clip broke but thanks to the Gerber warranty i'll be sending it in for repair!
Well I've had this knife for a year now and the clip snapped off and that is the only thing that I could possibly complain about but thing is that it took a really good pull to break it. I don't know what it caught on but my weight was already to far one way to stop and that's the only reason that the clip broke. I don't know what these other people are complaining about when they act like it was flimsy. It's not at all. I sent in my request to get a new clip and hopefully get this knife back into service. Will always continue to use Gerber knives and my kids will know the name as well.
Great knife but the internal spring that assists opening broke. Is there any way the knife can be fixed or replaced under warrenty? The knfe is not old. Address is 688 michael road Carthage, N. C. 28327. Please contact me or if possible, let me know the procedure for replacing the knife. Thank you!
I love my knife. It fits in my pocket perfectly. The opening is smooth and close just as good. I have had two in 3 or 4 years ? The first one the lock broke but that was from abuse from dropping off a roof when working up there. My second one one of the teeth broke and the blade doesn't keep a egde the best but its easy to sharpen when needed
Great knife. Holds a sharp edge. It was my everyday carry knife till the clip broke off, I replaced it once but then it broke a second time and now the coating is chipped where the screw holes are. Other than the clip issues it's a great knife. Had it 4 years now and the action is still fast and tight
Ive owned a fair amount of knives over the years and this is by far the best one Ive ever had. One of my biggest annoyances with knives is when the blade gets loose and wiggles from side to side. Another big one is when the blade dulls really quickly. I know some people have had their clips break on this knife but it hasnt happened to me yet and Im going into my fourth year with this knife. Ive only had to sharpen it a few times and tighten the blade maybe once. Ive put this knife through so much and its held up better than any knife Ive ever had before.
Love the knife 3 + years been great. Just the clip keep broke . Can i get a new clip

This is an amazing knife. Very durable. Holds an edge well. Comfortable, quick action. Only issues I have with it first the serrated edge, I am not a fan, but everyone is making their knives like that. No one I know likes it, but it's all we see anymore. The second is that I have owned 3 of these, love them all, but the clips broke on all 3. Now that we can order the parts, I am happy, before. I have had to just replace the knife.
The clip breaks, it then pulls and rips my pants so I remove the broken part and when I want to send it in for warranty, I can't find the part.
I recommend this knife, but buy some extra clips for it.
I Love this knife. but the only thing I don't like is the clip keeps breaking .where the screw hole is on the clip.
I think you need to redesign the chip with no screw hole.
I use this knife on lots of different jobsites, in the woods, on the water, it works everywhere! I love this blade, I just wish that it was not serrated. However I did break the tip, but I am going to send it in for warranty. It holds a nice edge too.
Had this knife for 3 years, I used it a lot for outdoor recreation very good knife for the money, recently retired it do to the tip of the blade breaking, but do to the abuse i have put this knife through im very impressed it lasted 3 years, definitely recommend this
Knife release button broke the first day I bought it.. It appeared there was super glue like substance holding the release button to the knife. Now the knife is unable to close fully or open fully. The knife was also very stiff to open but I could have been ok with that ...
This is a very good knife. To address the so-called stiffness: It does not go away, either you're good at opening the knife or not. Right out of the box, I swung it open. All of my friends are struggle to open it. So saying it is a bad knife just because it has a spring that opens lightning fast is not a good reason.
Lightweight knife, with a nice blade. Knife kept opening up inside my pocket, slicing two pockets open on two different pairs of jeans and stabbing me in the leg (luckily not seriously). Thankfully, this product has been recalled. I have contacted Gerber THREE times about a replacement and I have been blown off each time.
This has been a good knife for on-the-job needs and the open assist for one handed opening is just the right touch. Unfortunately the clip that keeps it ready to go in my hip pocket is not as solid and ready to go as I and the rest of the knife are. It bent within the first month of use and then it snapped. Now the knife is useless and sitting in a basket while I use another brand of knife that I had to purchase on-the-fly while on the job since I haven't been able to take the time out of my busy schedule to get the clip fixed.
Love the knife, I actually like how it opens, including the different push angle to get it to open. My only issue is the pocket clip snapped shortly after I bought it.
First Gerber ever purchased, I was super thrilled to get it, opened the packaging put my hands on it and it is the most difficult knife to open. Tried oiling it up with no avail.
The blade is exceptional - I've always liked Gerber products. This is the first "assisted opening" blade, though not my first clip knife.
Because of work, I carry in my front pocket. The clip bent such that it is not effective anymore (though easily removed, as others have said). My complaint is the assisted opening chooses to open the blade in my pocket. Aside from slicing a pocket open, I've been jabbed in the leg (not seriously, just enough to let me know it was open). I have had to revert back to my old blade (far smaller, lighter weight) because I just don't feel safe carrying the thing.
The first knife, I purchased direct from Gerber Gear and when it arrived I found that it was incredibly hard to open even after oiling it. I finally sent it back and Gerber sent me a new one after about a week. The second one is easier to open but still nothing like the demonstration video on the Gerber website. I cannot open this knife with one hand! I've tried 3 in 1 oil and WD40 but it is still a bear to open. I'm going to try loosening the torx screws next and get some oil in the pivot to see if that helps.
Wife and son gave it to me for a birthday present. I have used it almost daily and it goes with me when I travel. No complaints, great knive.
When GerberGear recalled this product back in (Febuary 2012) they've modified the opening mechanism and pocket clip for more durability. A little difficult when trying to open this with one hand. But when the proper technique is applied the opening mechanism operates at optimal functionality. I give this model four stars because of the callus forming on my thumbs. all in all this is a great knife at a great price.
Knife was super awesome until it could no longer hold an edge. But, the customer service department at Gerber assured me that they would take care of it for me! Props for them! Fantastic knife if it holds an edge.
I have almost 100 knives, 10 or 12 being Gerber's, and I think this one is my favorite pocket knife so far. I review all of my knives that I buy and do tests with them indoors and out, and I have no problem with this knife, but I would suggest adding a safety lock to the next version. That would make it the perfect tactical folding knife. Thanks guys!
I got the instant for a dependable every day carry knife. Sure it cuts stuff no problem and has useful serrations, BUT if you are cutting wood or doing simple widdling, then the single pin lock will start to give out. The spring action still works but the blade wiggles around too much.
I got this knife this past Fall.I have been looking at it for a while. I have got to say so far it lives up to the image that Gerber paints of it
I love this knife, use it as my every day carry. It's well made and easy to use. Locking mechanism is excellent, it has an excellent grip and the g10 composite is fantastic, in my opinion.
All around a good knife. Light, low profile, easy one handed use, good with both cutting and stabbing motions, and easy to grip. The only complaint that I have is that the assisted open is pretty tight.
This knife is great. I had been looking for a knife for daily use for about a month, and everyone I talked to recommended that I get a Gerber. So I got this one. I have absolutely no complaints about it. The assist feature is awesome for quick access which helps in all situations (the ones I've been in, anyway). The handle is a good one, and blade locks closed pretty smooth too. I would definitely recommend this knife.
This thing worked out pretty well until the tension bar snapped so it wont close anymore.
plus it would be way better without serrations.
Nice and sharp. Especially if the locking mechanism fails, cut up my finger pretty good. I had worries about the blade lock since day one, I own several other knives and use them frequently. Lock button is very easy to hit when using and is this case when the tip of the knife was pushed into the item I was cutting the lock failed all together and the knife closed on my finger. This knife is dangerous to use. If it had a different locking mechanism, it would be fine and a 5 star.
I WOULD LOVE TO LIKE THE BLADE BUT ASSISTED ACTION ON THIS KNIFE IS TERRIBLE. I'VE SEEN IN EARLIER 2012 REVIEWS THAT THIS KNIFE WAS WAY EASIER TO OPEN THUS SEEING MORE POSITIVE REVIEWS IN DIFFERENT FORUMS INCLUDED. LOOK AT THE REVIEWS HERE AND YOULL SEE. SOMETHING HAPPENED TO THE ACTION ON THIS KNIFE FROM LATE 2012 TO 2013. FIND OUT WHAT IT AND GET IT FIXED. I HEAR THEY WOULD JUST FLING OPEN WITHOUT THUMB BUSTING THRUST. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN A 1212 WAS PRINTED ON THE KNIFE BLADE AND HERE THE BLOODY THUMB STORIES AND A SUPER HARD ACTION TO OPEN. I LIKE THIS KNIFE BUT WITH AN ACTION THIS HARD TO DEPLOY I CANNOT RISK MY LIFE ON IT. AND PLEASE MAKE MORE LEFT HANDED SHEATHS FOR FIXED BLADE MODELS OR UNIVERSAL ONES AT LEAST. THERE ISNT ANY OUT THERE AND TEN PERCENT OF ADDITIONAL PROFIT IS WAITING FOR ONE OR MANY
This knife is the best! Yes it is a little stiff at first, but after using it for a while it doesn't make a difference. It's super handy for when I don't have two hands to open a knife. I use this on a daily basis in my lawn mowing business.
Good knife, not great. Why does Gerber feel like virtually everything needs serations and not offer the whole lineup in a fine edge? The ergo-geometrics of the thumb stud and pivot point need a little more fine tuning to be smooth and effortless. The rear top portion of the handle needs to be brought up just a touch, and the skeletonized portion of the handle needs to be omitted. Do this, Gerber, and you will have a fine knife! Until then, I will continue to carry this knife on a daily basis, because it is a good tool, at a price point that doesn't make you cry, the steel takes and holds an admirable edge, and, quite simply, gets the job done.
My brother was being attacked by a boar on my neighbours pig farm, Luckily I had my instant with me and was able to Stab the boar in the hind leg and get him of my brother. unfortunately he then turned on me, I ran into the barn and closed the door, throwing a couple hay bales against the door. I knew this wouldn't hold him so I moved up to the rafters and began hacking away at a rope holding The ramp up to the hayloft. the boar ran into the barn in a rampage and I cut the rope just in time. He stayed below trying to find a way to get to me until my neighbours dad came and stunned the boar with a cattle proud. Great knife, saved my hide.
O like the knife's look and feel on handle. The only draw back is that it's VERY stiff to open. Other than that, it's a pretty good everyday knife. Gerber did a pretty good job on this one !!!!
I bought this to have for everything; and so far its done just that. I have used it for a lot an d so far it has not ever let me down!
Love it! Great Looking Knife Very Comfortable, Sturdy and Easy to Use! Of the Few Dozen Gerber Products I own this is definitely one of my Favorites! It was really stiff opening but broke in after opening it about 25-30 times.
First knife I've bought, just picked it up at Wal-Mart from a bit of self defense. Easy enough to open and close. Nice design. Over all, I really like it.
I have owned this knife for two and a half years now as my every day carry and it is still going strong. I have royally beaten this knife, I've taken it in saltwater, fresh water, dropped it off a roof while laying shingles, left it inside a deer over night, even cut car tires apart with it. It has tackled camping trips, construction work, Saturday afternoon yard work and everything in between. Besides it looking rough the only problem is that that blade moves about 2mm up and down, but never side to side, which isn't a worry. This knife has performed better than $300 Benchmades I've owned and done things I would normally only trust a fixed blade to do. Maybe I got lucky with mine, maybe not, but I know that the day this knife fails I'm walking in and buying another one. A quality knife.
Its a nice knife, but the blade wobbles terribly. Nice grippy G-10 Handle, love the plunge lock, and the assisted openings ok, would've preferred the button assisted opening, but credentials are required, and Im not that old, good knife for the price.
love the look and feel. hate the asst. spring.
would like to remove it but, not sure if knife
would close right?
Great knife. Ball bearing pivot, assisted opening, and G-10 scales. Both ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing. Easy to sharpen without going dull overly fast. 2 things I didn't like. 1 being the knife is very stiff to deploy until properly broke in. After maybe a hundred openings, the finish will wear off the torsion bar and the surfaces will show a slight polish. Once this is accomplished, it still open easier, but still fairly stiff in my opinion. The second thing I don't like is that after a day or two of playing with it, the blade will develop some slop. This has happened to both instant knives I have bought. Very disappointing considering the fact that for what I paid I could have had any number of quality knives that would lock up as tight as a bank vault for years...
I've had this knife for about three month now and it's great for cutting truck straps, zip ties and parachord. It's tactical design is great for being stealthy onstage and everyone loves opening the blade! My only complaint is the pocket clip gets hung up way to easy. I lost the knife the first day I had it because a coil of cable caught the clip and bent it up and out of my pocket. I recovered it, but have had the same thing happen multiple times over. Until the clip finally snapped off...
I have had many knives over the years but none have compared to this one. This knife has held up better than anyhting else i have ever had and i highly recomend it. i love this little knife. Its tough knife and has always impressed me
I bought this knife because I live the g10 handle but it opens up in my pocket what is gerber gonna do bout all the same complains and the same problem gerber needs to stand behind its product what do I do to fix this problem
I love this knife the only draw back was I dropped it on thin carpeted floor and the tip bent.... besides the too thin tip its a great and awesome buy
it just works. i find myself reaching for this 45 dollar blade more than a 145 dollar blade. only thing is it needs a better clip.
ive had this knife for about 2 1/2 months and its the best knife ive ever owned. I do road construction and I have to cut a lot of things and this knife cuts it all like butter!!! love it!!!
Had this knife for a couple of weeks. The only complaint is that the mechanism is hard to open with one hand.
Has a great edge and is light. I really like the clip.
This knife is good it feels great in hand and holds a decent edge but it a lot of back and foreword blade play also the pocket clip is good but I want options to have tip up or tip down and the last thing that is a deal breaker is it is made in China make more knives in the USA
The knife is well-made and solid. The button to close is easy to use however I found it almost impossible to open with one hand despite it's "assisted opening" feature.
Haven't had it too long but used it quite abit so far and already love it more than any other knife I own!
Good job on this one gerber but out of the box I could barely open the knife because it was so stiff but it loosened up after a while. The blade was razor sharp out of the box and I love the g10 scales but for $50 I would like a better steel. Overall it's a good edc blade I would reccomend this knife to anyone looking for a good utility blade. Gerber is making a comeback.
I have taken this knife across the world and into everything from the early calm mountains of Vietnam to the rioting streets of Bangkok. This knife has proven its self over and over again.
I like this knife but the fine part of the blade chipped with use for a week. Great for rescue swimming and boating.
bought at local walmart, nice knife but would not open with thumb stud, just about bloodied my thumb trying. should have just brought back, but i did some file work on bottom of blade and now works fine. should have come out of the box like that...........
I have had this knife for 8 months now and it is the best knife i have had for work. the blade lock on it is the most positive locking i have seen or used. the blade holds its edge for a long time. I almost did not buy this knife because it was not US made but took a chance, and I am glad I did.
When I had gotten the Instant for my father as a gift for Christmas, he had said that it was hard to open. But he uses everyday, uses it at his job, and uses it for hunting/hiking. Might consider getting one myself!
This is a good knife in the sense that its strong and looks cool. The only draw back is that the assist is way to sensitive. The blade will pop out in your pocket if your not careful. I bought a carrier for it and now have no problems.
Just picked this one up today. Really nice knife. Just having a really hard time getting it opened with one hand. It is super hard and my thumb is numb after trying to work with it. Worked it all day and still no change. Guess I picked up a flawed one. Oh well, I'll try to work with it more later.
Great knife that replaced my garbage Kershaw. I didn't know that something better was out there until a friend let me see his new Gerber and I was hooked. Opens fast and light weight. The clip was a little tight so I slightly bent it out and now it's perfect. The screws for the clip do come loose after about a month of light to moderate use dut an easy fix. Looking for my next Gerber now.
ive had this knife for well over a year almost two, its very good. It holds and edge fairly well and is quick to sharpen the assisted open is very quick. i have not had an issue with mine opening in my pocket. the only issue i have run into is the clip breaking on it. mine has broken 3 times now i am waiting for the most current replacement to arrive. if they could redesign a clip that didn't fail as much this nice could go much further.
Great knife, good looking, sharp and durable, but the clip has broken twice inside of a year. Gerber replaced it the first time but the second time a screw that holds the clip in place, the top sheared off . The clip has only one screw holding in place . Needless to say the knife doesn't hold in place in your pocket
I bought this knife about a year ago, and carry it everyday. I've done everything from open boxes to cut 1/8 metal wire with it. It's sturdy, reliable, and won't break like spring assisted knives. This is the best pocket knife I've ever had. The only thing I don't like about it is that my belt clip broke off about a month ago but I still use it. Defiantly recommend to everyone.
great knife, use it every day. I bought two of them.just wish the blade was made with Gerber's higher quality steel. but love the knife
Just bought this knife today. I love it! It's heavy duty and doesn't feel cheap. The quick spring mechanism works well and delivers the blade fast. Folded, it looks very stylish and masculine. I do believe I have found myself a new everyday pocket knife.
Love the feel of this knife Gerber is on the comeback love that it's made in the US too keep up the good work!
I have two of thease knives they are great E.D.C. knives. size ,shape, blade style, love the instant it goes everywhere with me. the pocket clip broke on one and the point keeps chipping off. the other is good. I believe if this knife was made in U.S.A. with S30v steel and the portland Oregan stamped on the blade it would be #1 and would out sell any other knife in it's class even if it would cost more! or you need to make a S30v propell A.O with a drop point blade. keep up the good work gerber, love the instant
Last Christmas my wife gave me the Instant to replace my Swagger. Day and night difference! I use this knife everyday and would feel lost without it. I recommend this to anyone looking for a reliable everyday knife.
This is my first assisted opening from Gerber .The first time I put it out from the box, I'm a little disappointed because the AO 2.0 is very stiff. But only after about 30 mins of playing, the mechanism started to work like a charm. The deep pocket clip is awesome, too. Finally, the name is describe it all: whenever you need an instant blade, the Instant will be there and help you. Good job Gerber!
I bought this knife last year to replace my Icon (needed something smaller) this is a fantastic knife incredibly durable and easy to sharpen, my only complaint it that the clip broke off after just two months of light/moderate use. Still a great buy!
Overall a great knife, It's been my daily carry since i got it last february. I do occasionally have problems with it trying to open in my pocket, but any time you put a spring in a knife thats a risk. Switch the button lock for a slide lock and i'll all it perfect.
I picked this knife up a few hours ago at walmart. Fist thing i noticed when i opened it. Wicked fast. Looks and feels loke a great knife. Nice thick blade that is very sharp right out of the box. Only thing i do not like about it is the handle. I know it is G10 but there is only a very very small sliver of metal on the inside of the handle to back it up. Other than that it is a great knife
This is an amazingly sharp knife and easy to use. This knife helped me escape my vehicle in a car crash and I would recommend this knife to anyone.
I took this knife on one of my Boy scout hiking trips (Philmont for all you scout guys) and I absolutely love it. It cuts moleskin like a knife through butter it cuts open freeze dried packages too easily. I love the "Carbon fiber" look and skeleton feel. The blade is great for opening packages and cutting really anything. It is also super sharp and the serrated blade is great. I also take this hunting with me in my pocket, I have used it a couple of times to open and cut various things. It is also a perfect fit in my pocket, but the only bad think is that it opens in my pocket while I walk. But that was fixed with a rubber band. This thing is too sexy to be put into a sheath!! The knife is a perfect size but I think it would be cool if Gerber made a mini one like they have done with the Paraframe minis. I love Gerber Gear and I hope to purchase more knifes in the future!
I Use this knife Every Day all day. it is my daily carry and I never leave home without it. that being said I wish the Instant came in a Fully Fine edge design.
This knife was outstanding, shaving sharp, super tough (i pried a log in two with this thing), good strong piercing tip, comfortable carry, fast deployment, comfortable slip resistant grip. Pretty much perfect except for two things, first of all the pocket clip gets snagged on almost any material it comes in contact with, and after about a week or two of use the assist mechanism snapped and fell out of the knife and made it open in my pocket and rendering it useless, love your knives Gerber and designs but if they don't hold up it makes me weary of buying new knives.
This knife was great out of the box; sharp, lickity split quick opening, great grip, high levels of "cool factor." But after 2.5 weeks of daily use around the house and work (opening packages and letters, cutting zip ties, occasionally cutting up my lunch, etc.) the leaf spring snapped while I was closing the knife. I put in a warranty claim with Gerber this morning. Hopefully we'll be able to get this resolved in a satisfactory way.
this knife is fabulous! i got this knife about three days ago and immediately took it into the woods it held up really well under normal use and kept a perfect edge it came razor sharp but was a little sticky, although it was easily fixed with a small modification. this is a must buy for everybody.
my first gerber and I'm a huge fan. perfect for every day use. couldn't be happier with a simple pocket knife. totally recommended.
Just like everyone said great knife but the clip brock on me last week but worth getting that repaired.
I have been carrying this knife around for over a year now and it has certainly stood the test of time its sharp out of the box and stays sharp! Its one of the best knives i own!
For a Foreign made knife this is design very well. I've had it for a few weeks for my EDC and as a defense blade. My only complaint is that its a little stiff to open but once it starts to open, its like lightning.
This is my second knife of the same model and is great. It stays sharp longer than any other knife I have owned. I lost the first knife due to a stretched pocket clip. The first one was bad to open up in my pocket but you fixed that problem on the newer model.
So I bought the same model again and after owning the second knife for a month the blade has major surface rust and the pocket clip broke. Great knife but still needs work. Please fix the design flaws.
this knife is great one of the if not the best knife I have ever owned! its great I use it everyday could not be more happy!
Awesome knife;Super sharp;love it. Some ppl complained that it opens in pocket, but, I bet they are dot watching what they`re doing when they put it in. In that case, the thumbstud just barely grazes the pocket edge, which makes it open about half a cm. then it is just a matter of time before it comes open all the way on its own. To prevent this, I usually put it in my pocket then make sure it is fully closed. All in all, it depends on the size and shape of your pocket.
let me start off by saying this is a fantastic knife. easily my second favorite behind my gerber mini-remix 2 blade.
get insanely sharp insanely fast. seriously i just sharpened it and it not only cut hair but cut all my hair off my arm.
its very tough, ive dropped it many times and nothing happened to it at all. easily one of my most reliable knives.
the release and lock are perfect. had to oil it when i got it but after that it opened perfectly. always locks and always releases smoothly.
tipdown carry. is it too much to ask for an extra set of holes?
serrations as an option? seriously, this isnt too much to ask either. i dont mind it. im willing to live with it but i know alot of people who arnt. so i have an idea for gerber, if a knife has serations offer a fine edge version. example remix.
overall a solid 8/10. put an option for tipdown and it would be a 10 for me
Nice knife, but clip is weak and broke off, I'm on this page getting the model number so their service department can send me a new one.
I got this knife a couple months ago and it holds a edge really well. The only thing I notice is that that spring is a heavy spring so a little hard on the thumb but no big problem
My best knife so far given its shape, handling, light weight, sharp edge... Although the first one was hard to open, but I got it exchanged with no hastle at Bass Pro Shop in Canada (excellent service).
This knife is an amazing knife the only reason I have it 4 stars instead of 5 was because in the beginning it was very hard to open it would cut up my thumb anyway great job gerber p.s this is a knife tht if u want something tht will take a lot of everyday wear and tear than this is the knife
Overall a very good knife. The blade keeps a fine edge and can take a beating. The spring has not gone out on me yet and is allwaysready for when i need it. I named mine black betty
I got this knife about six months ago. At first, the opening was a little tough. The first time I opened it I almost dropped it from the kickback, I definitely wasn' t expecting it to open so forcefully. After a couple days it was broken in and now opens smooth as butter.
It holds an edge great also, it came shaving sharp out of the package and I've only had to do a few touch-ups after six months of everyday use.
Overall this knife is a great edc and I would recommend it to anyone, but there could be some improvements made to it.
It has opened in my pocket a couple times, but only when I pull something out of my pocket. On that note, a safety would be a great addition to this knife.
The pocket clip is also a little weak, and it just broke off yesterday so I am in the process of contacting Gerber customer service for a replacement so we'll see how that goes.
Other than beefing up the clip and adding a safety I would have to say Gerber definitely knocked this one out of the park!
Okay. Before this knife was recalled for a faulty locking mechanism. The steel quality was beyond my standard. BUT. The steel quality of THIS version is pretty much CHINESE 440CM. Which is a ''no-go'' in a lot of knife buyers books. I've used the knife for a while and the clip broke, so I received a new one free of charge from the website. And the ''stainless steel'' isn't so stainless. It's collecting a couple scars every time I take it hiking or camping. I am a Gerber life fan but I am always looking for a better knife. Plus, mine wasn't made in the USA. Just crafted. BUMMER. And another thing. The assisted opening opened in my pocket and when I was climbing it jabbed my junk. OUCH.
I love this knife. It is very easy to open and close. This is probally the best spring assisted knife in my collection. This is a great tool for many needs, but may be a little too much for children.
gerber quaility is outstanding. all their knives are very well put together. their quality has nothing to do with it being made over seas . spyderco makes theirs in japan and their knives easly beat out some american made blades. where gerber goes wrong is when the put terrible locks and poor steel in a knife and sell it for like $100. thats where the lose my business. love their knives theyre awesome like this one, i held it at the local sports store and was impressed till i saw the price for that cal. of knife
What a great knife. Blade opens up quick as a whip and locks up with authority. I love the serrated edge - makes cutting twine a snap without dulling the fine edge part of the blade. Handle is perfectly sized and comfortable. If Gerber continues to make knives like this, they've got a customer for life.
its the best cut to fit one hand operation knife.great operation ready for action, locks solid.so light, it has natural fit and feel, part of you. i started giving all my other knives away to family.
Like Sara this is NEARLY the best of the 3 Gerber knives I've purchased THIS year. It's the right size for your hand, and it's the easiest to Open. However, the clip broke. I'll need some Factory Warranty Help.
Of the others, the FAST AO doesn't open, and the latest, the Swagger AO is a convenient size, and the clip is stout, but it doesn't open as easy as the instant.
This is a wonderful knife, many uses I used it for everything including shaving. It has a hell of an edge to to it. I only had one problem the screws at the top popped off and the casing was falling off. Other than that, it is the best Knife i have ever bought.
Sturdy reliable sharp and fast I've had it for a few months now and it's still as amazing as It was when I got it
For the price this knife is a steal. The only problem is the pocket clip. Would recommend to anyone who needs a good everyday flip knife.
I received this knife as a gift during christmas of 2012 and love it! The size and shape of handle fits my perfectly and I have some pretty big hands. For work I always have my gerber multi-tool with me but wanted a pocket knife. I got exactly what I wanted. A knife that is strong and easy to have in my pocket. The assist opening is very slick too. It takes a little while to get used to opening it because it is a little stiff, but totally worth it. You don't have to worry about it opening up in your pocket, but its easy enough to flick open with one hand in a quick one fluid motion. Buy this knife! You will not regret it!!
Highly recommend this knife. Not to light but not to heavy, sharp and comes out nice and fast. it will be a little stiff when you get but after a week it will be easy to get out. Amazing knife overall!!
I had this knife for about two weeks and all the screws for the pocket clip fell out and got lost. Although the opening is smooth as heck, I can still open my wave knifes just as fast, and they are a lot bigger than this.
I have had this knife now since last summer and love it! I love using it for outdoors work, the spring action makes it so easy and the blade is wonderfully sharp. I haven't even needed to sharpen it yet!
I won this knife from a Gerber facebook contest and am very happy I did. I can't wait to expand my Gerber collection further.
i bought this knife a couple months ago. i have used it at work, home, camping. it is so easy to open, very lite weight, and sharp as a razor. love it. highly recommend it.
I've had this knife for a few months now and I love it, it holds a nice edge and there is no play in the blade at all, over all I give this knife 4.5 stars and not 5 because the clip does seem a little weak.

You guys at Gerber continue to make fantastic blades. I've had to replace my mini covert "F.A.S.T." blade (Which I will be sending it to be fixed as soon as I can) with this one (temporarily). I absolutely love the action on the knife. It's quick... Real quick. Just as the name implies... It's "Instant"!
Keep up the great work!
after the marketing done on this prodect I was hooked, well done Gerber on the promotion of this! I bought it right away and have never been happier with a knife. this is my EDC, always stays SO sharp. I would definitely buy this knife again, problem is.. Gerber made it so good I'll never have to buy it again!
I got this knife as a Christmas present and haven't left home without it. It took a little while to break in the assisted opening but since then it's been a breeze to open right or left handed. The blade required a little touch up out of the package but since then I haven't had to sharpen it after using it almost every day these past 4 months.
I would definitely recommend this knife for everyday use.
This has to be my favorite knife and is perfect for ever day carry. The texture on the handle helps you keep a good griping the knife and I love that only 1/3 of the blade is serrated and not 1/2. I never leave home without it in my pocket.
I've had this knife since a few weeks after it came out, It's a great knife, nice and sharp, feels great in the hand. Just a great knife. Well priced as well. My only complaint is as many people have pointed out, the pocket clip is weak and if your not careful it can snap easily if it catches on something, but Gerber will send you a new one if this happens.
i am hard on things, I have broken every knife i have ever owned till this one. its simple, cheap, and Reliable. You cant go wrong with it. I carry it everywhere, till someone stole it. Def worth buying a replacement.
I found this knife along side the highway where it looked like it had been thrown out of a car window. The blade was roughed up a bit and the clip was broken but beside that it was in good shape for have landed on asphalt.
This knife has a great blade that keeps an edge really well. The spring assist is nice and strong. Coins in my pocket sometimes get wedged in it but that's not even a problem always pops open when I need it.
The handle has sharp edges and so does the relase when I got the knife it was very sharp I recommend this knife if you have tough hands and want it to last good job gerber....
I applaud the craftsmanship in the making of the handle. A fine looking piece. I adore the blade shape, but I noticed the black finish wears off rather quickly. In my field of work I find myself using this everyday and am very pleased. But aesthetically speaking, this knife gets dull. This, however, does not stop me from loving this. Rugged and strong.
I'm only gonna say this in a few short words...the knife is horrible. the button that locks up the knife in place broke on me the first time using it on a camping trip...even before hand when you keep it in your pocket or clip it to your side after awhile the knife blade would pop out, it's very dangerous from the fact if you were to fall down the blade would stab you. sounds ridiculous but it has happen to people with other knives...but I will say the blade is strong and stays sharp...that's the only nice thing I can say about it. DON'T BUY IT.
Overall I would put this knife as a good value. It isn't made to be a premium knife but more of an entry level open assist knife.
I paid $30 for this knife though It tends to go for $30-$40 depending on where you look. The G10 handle is nice gives a good grip. The thumb stud is easy to gain purchase on and the retent of the blade is just right. The open assist system works well, though it's not as good as Kershaw's system.
The button lock works great, you can open and close this knife easily with one hand. The blade is made of "budget" steel, not bad steel but not premium steel. I would put the performance around 8cr steel or between 440C and AUS-8, but closer to AUS-8. So overall the steel is not impressive but it is good enough for a everyday carry/utility knife.
I would easily buy another one of these for myself, and possibly ones as a gift if GERBER would PLEASE make this knife with a straight plain edge! For this price I got mine at $34.00 I love it although I have never been crazy about serrated blades. Light, super fast,Great ergonomics, great look, very smooth, and comfortably small, however not to small! In a pinch it could be pressed into service efficiently and effectively for self defense. I would prefer at least a 4 inch blade for sd however with this I would still feel confident that I could stop an attacker eventually. ccw handgun is my preference actually.
this knife is an amazing knife and i would highly recommend it to anyone ho is looking for a cheap knife but one hell of a knife
Iv had this knife for about year, but it finally met its fate the other day at work.
Over the past year it had been through alot, from carving wood, breaking down boxes, cutting rope, its been left outside for a few days and even dropped deep in the ocean! But unfortunately it was no mach for the trash compacter at work....
Action is great, Blade is great and the Handle is great!
I would recommend this knife to anyone!
The knife is amazing. I've had it for over a year, the only problem is the clip just recently broke. other than the clip not being strong enough, it's a great knife to own.
I love this knife I actually bought two of them my self, I love every thing about tis knife except it does not have an option for a plain edge with no serration. If you guys at Gerber could do that option in the near future that would be great. But, overall a great knife love it.
i liked the feel of this knife and the blade shape. i had got the knife as soon as it hit shelves and mine mightve been in the recall group it had a tendency for the assistmechanism to un intentionally fire the blade until the assistspring bar in the rear of the handle simply snapped. i never sent it in to be fixed but gerbers customer service is great and i know i wouldve had a new one. i chose to drill the bladeso now the button locks it closed and open. it has sincebecome a beater knife
I love the feel of this knife and how sharp it is. but the clip is not as tough as the knife and soon broke.
I will agree saying this is a great knife. But the first one i bought did not come with a serrated edge which i thought was strange so i took it back and now have a new one. People really seem to get bad luck with this knife when buying it but i love my auto gets what i want done when i want it done.
I wrote a really bad review on this knife a couple of weeks ago because of poor one handed opening action. I am happy to report that cutomer serevice was helpful and I had a new knife in my hand quickly. New knifes action is great. Knife is everything it is supposed to be. G-10 handle is secure in hand, knife is heavy enough to feel comfortable to tackle anything a knife needs to do and light enough to be a fantastic EDC. Gave a 3 star ranking instead of 5 because I hope Gerber really listens to reviews and adopts better quality control and builds this and all thier knives in the good old USA.
This has been my every day and everything knife over the past month. Not only is it one tough knife, it's very comfortable & lightweight to carry all the time. The Gerber Instant will do it all. A real gem in the Gerber line.
I have read several reviews and have seen that many people have complained that the action is bad for one handed use.
Mine actually feels like sand is caught in the action until the assist takes over and then knife open easily.
Blade is super sharp, shaved hair out of package. But there really seems to be a lack of quality control with this knife.
Too bad because for weight, and secure feeling in hand I could have really loved this kinife.
Going to contact customer service and see how painful that will be. Maybe I will write an update.
I had an issue with my first one but Gerber replaced it with no questions asked and ive been using the second one for a long time now and it stands up to everything. I would definitely purchase another one in a heartbeat! A great knife GERBER - thanks
This knife is part of my EDC. It has never opened in any of my pockets. I generally clip it in my right hand pants pocket. Opens like a switch blade and closes very easily. Still sharp after six months of use.
If you're looking for a great EDC knife that won't break the bank then this might be the right knife for you! Quick spring action, grippy handle & a razor sharp blade... I've had it 3 months now and I have yet to have it open in my pocket like others had mentioned.
Awesome knife! I love the simplicity of the assisted open, much better than previous designs. have had it about a month and just broke the clip, very common for me happens to every knife. Hopefully there will be a better design for that someday
I got this from a friend who knows nothing about knives for my birthday and needless to say I am very satisfied. It has become my new daily carry and the spring action is very nice.
I got this knife for Christmas from my wife and i really love it. It has opened in my pocket once. So i switched to mu left pocket and it cannot open.
I have had the knife less than a month and my clip has already broken. I have reached out to Warranty today, so hopefully it will be a quick response.
Overall good knife, love the blade stays sharp. The only gripe it will not stay closed. I have a rubberband to keep it closed.
the knife would open inside of my pocket for the first month or two of having the knife but now that i have worn in the mechanisim it is much better. kept an edge well and has worked like i thought it shouold. Overall not a bad knife
I've used Gerber's since I was a boy scout, my Gator has been abused for over 15 years and finally won't continue to hold an edge, it has sentimental value to me so i decided to purchase a new knife instead. I purchased the Gerber Instant, and so far the knife is fine, other than the fact that i cant carry it with the clip that is intended to hold it secure... the clip screws need tightened daily but worse yet is I still require my sheath because this knife will open in my pocket unintentionally. thats going to be bad for my thighs or furniture.. This knife needs a safety, I've grown to expect more from Gerber.. definately not this.
I've purchased three of these knives, one for myself and two as gifts. Both the knife that I purchased for myself and the knife I purchased for my friend arrived with several stripped torx screws, mine with a broken torx head still stuck in a clip screw. However, both knives function as designed.
I purchased the third for my little brother for Christmas and the knife barely functions. The blade was so poorly machined that the knife cannot be opened with one hand alone.
I have long been a Gerber fan, own several of their knives and tools and have never had a problem with any of my other purchases. But, the fact that I've purchased three of these knives over a three month period and all three made it through quality control with damaged parts is ridiculous. I'll be returning the knife I purchased for my brother while he uses mine in the meantime.
For a knife that Gerber spent so much time and money marketing, I'd expect them to take more care in manufacturing it. I am one very disappointed buyer.
I purchased this based entirely on the design aspects. Now after owning it for some time the looks are nearly not as important. The spring assist is nice, it does have a little kick back when you open it. Sharpness is amazing no effort in cutting. My only complaint is the blade will open up if you are bending or bump into something. This has only happened 4 times. Besides that its an amazing knife
I just got this knife and love it. Really easy to sharpen and holds an edge like nothing else. Shaved some hair off of my leg with it without difficulty. The only reason i gave 4 stars is that I really wish there was a fine edge version. Other than that, I think it's the best knife Gerber has made.
Good knife despite having to return it due to a recall on the locking mechanism. Customer Service was rather slow on the uptake and I only found out about the recall after emailing to tell them it broke after a few uses.
The new lock is a little more ridged, not nearly as smooth on open but it'll do.
I would have given it 5 starts had it not been for the recall and lackluster customer service.
I'd recommend it for a person who isn't super into knives but needs something lightweight.
Ive had this knife for a few months now and its beast...the only thing is that the pocket clip bent, how can i get that fixed?
I watched the reviews for this knife and little by little I fell in love with it, but there is one thing that needs to be changed. That is, ALL GERBER KNIVES NEED TO BE MADE IN THE U.S.A. !!!!!!!!
Bought two of these knives, one for me one for my dad n they r awesome. Sturdy, dependable, and come sharp as hell right outa the box. I carry mine in my pocket, and the knife is a big knife but i like how when u clip it on ur pocket u can barely notice u have a knife on u. Guys did a great job with this one, only thing that could make it better was to see made in usa on it.
great knife very sharpe holds a good edge light weight, easy open easy close and cant beat the low price for such a great knife!!
Got this knife three days ago. I've had many pocket clip knives like this, and the Instant is hands down the best one. Best blade, best grip, best feel in the hand. Can't go wrong with this knife.
Bought this knife and it hasn't left my side! Had to sharpen it once already but absolutely love it! Light weight, nice design, easy open but only when I want it to.
..it seems like every time I'm ready for a new knife, I have 2 choices..big as a machete, or "aww, ain't that cute?" Well not any more! This is a good "useable" sized knife..not so big that it'll bug you in a front pocket, not so small you'll lose it. Now, the downside..when it's all the way down on the clip, the thumb button on the blade hangs up on my pocket..it could be my pants, I dunno, maybe they could make left/right handed models, and only have the thumb button on one side (??) Other than that, I can't believe I hesitated on buying this knife...
I usually don't buy assisted open but I really wanted one. I purchased this knife because it looks cool, has a fair price, and I wanted to try the 2.0 Mechanism.
So, I get my knife in the mail and am really excited to test it out. I unbox the knife and try to open the blade with my thumb. I could not get the blade open with my thumb, I open it using two hands and realize it opens fine. I try to again open with my thumb and try real hard, it opened. This knife is far to difficult to open, the pressure needed from my thumb is ridiculous, both of my thumbs are now bruised (my fault for trying to open again and again). Overall not a huge deal I can still open it with two hands or with my sore thumbs. But when I buy an assisted open i expect it to open properly.
I realize that many of these knives are very easy to open and may open in pockets. My knife is just the opposite. I think Gerber adjusted to the easy opening knives and this was the cause, hopefully they find a middle ground. Another possibility is that i will be able to "wear it in" and make it easier to open.
Beside being difficult to open i am absolutely pleased with the knife. It is very sharp right out of the box and has a great weight.
This knife is awsome. Great feel, great weight, and great features. I use it at work and as my every day carry. I highly recomend it.
This knife rocks ! Had it for around one month now. In my pocket everyday. Never had it open when I didn't want it to. The grip on this knife is excellent. Can't be beat for the price
Cut through a half inch piece of cardboard with literally no effort whatsoever i fricken love this knife
Easily in the top 3 of my EDC collection. Bought the Venture because of it, but have to work through a warranty issue. As far as this knife is concerned, I absolutely love it. Great lock-up, solid grip, awesome blade design, and ideal size and weight. A must have!
Really amazing locking mechanism and blade is sharp as can be. Worth every penny. A GOOD INVESTMENT!
I bought this knife on impulse, and I don't regret it. I've owned the Gerber AR 3.0 straight edge for years, and rationalized buying The Instant because of its serrated edge. The feel and weight is perfect, and I absolutely love the assisted opening device.
This is another great and well made knife by gerber! The blade is sharp and has a very nice curved look to it. The G-10 handle is great and doesnt slip out of your hand. The only the I have wrong with this knife is that there is no way to keep the knife closed once you fold it. The FAST system on this knife is very sensitive and it opens if you drop it, mess with is in your pocket, or hand it to someone else to quickly. All around this is a great knife I just wish that they was a locking system to keep the blade closed. I put a piece of paracord through the lanyard hole at the bottom and loop it over the blade when its in my pocket but even that's not a perfect system.
For getting my eagle scout rank, i asked my dad to get me a knife. i was looking at the myth which isnt my Favorite knife it needs to be rininforsed with something in the handle. This knife, is amazing! i take it everywhere and use it all the time, its sturdy and very durable! i would recommend this knife to anyone!
Blade shape looks perfect... you only need three changes: A straight edge version, s30v steel, and get rid of the thumb stud the scratches up your knuckles when you put your hand in your pocket... go with a simple round thumb hole
Short enough to carry, big enough to impress, the knife has a good and simple design, easily opened and closed with one hand, sharp enough to cut you need to cut, and built to impress. I have never had a problem with the knife opening in my pocket, and the clip is working pretty well for me so far. For fifty bucks, a great buy.
Outstanding knife, I love it but it opens in my pocket every time. Because of this I usually carry my Paraframe II instead. Definitely worth buying but don't be surprised when you have holes in your pockets.
I did a review back on AUG 6 and got it on that day.Ever since then it has been IT IS STILL GOING STRONG!!,And the only kinfe i carry around the farm Every Day.SPEND THE 50 BUCKS AND GET THIS KNIFE!!!!!!!!!!
I like most everything about knife, but the clip. Took it to work and only used it once and when I came home the clip was still hanging on my pocket and knife had fallen into pocket, but lost the screws to put the clip back on. I am afraid to carry it clipless in my pocket if it decides to open at any point while in my pocket with my luck it would be worst case scenario. I would say poor assembly or fasteners caused this and wonder if its covered by warranty.
This knife is great! Sharp, light, strong, quick... But it has a few short comings.
1. The knife DOES open in your pocket. This may be a concern for some folks, but so far with me it hasn't harmed me when opened in my pocket.
2. The belt clip. The clip got bent when I brushed up agains a wooden rail. I can't seem to bend it back. BUT... it is removable with a T6 star screwdriver. I will email them to see if it can be replaced.
Other than that.. GREAT KNIFE!
This is a great knife!!!!! The assisted opening is great and the blade is super sharp. Extremely light weight but no to much so it still feels solid. Only complaint is it was a bit hard to open easily with one hand at first but not i have loosened it up a bit from use and it is working like a dream! A great investment!!!!
A good knife. Very fast opening. Found out that if you push the stud towards the front of the knife instead of 90 degrees to the blade, it opens much easier. Please make the blade in a better grade grade steel and a razor edge. It would be worth paying more for. No problem with clip...so far.
just got this and so far so good love the way it fits in hand and opens and close great this is a great edc
this knife always opens in my pocket which then makes it even more difficult to remove from my pocket and within the first week of use the locking mechanism broke keeping the knife from staying open i am not impressed with this knife at all
i like the blade and knife shape but it needs tip up right side pocket clip and
needs a plain edge that is easier to sharpen
looks like i will stick to SOG
the pocket clip alone keeps me from buying several Gerber knives
The knife needs tip up right side pocket clip. The deep carry clip that it has bends 180 degrees from the mount creating a poor spring and a weak clip. The knife should also be made in america, out of 154CM, and be offered in a plain edge that is easier to sharpen.
I really want to buy this knife for multiple reasons like: the assisted open, the blade shape and design, and durable G-10 handle... But with the knife simply having no lock to prevent it from opening in my pocket, I cannot bring myself to buy this product. Fix that and you got yourself another sale!
I just ordered this knife and i cant wait for it to come in the mail.. the reviews seem all so good so i cant hardly wait.
Good EDC knife, needs to have better steel. Changing the pocket clip so that it can be drawn and opened without changing the hand placement is a must! Hope to see these changes to this design!
i got this knife and love it. great compact size, assisted opening is great. light but strong. the only down side is I have already broke the clip off, just sitting down. I snapped getting caught in the chair.
Day one i had the knife and it felt and worked great until I decided to sit down. The new clip seems to catch on more things than previous clips. I sat into and office chair and the pocket clip broke right off.
Not the best quality pocket Clip, everything else about this knife does ROCK!
Just got this knife downrange Afghanistan. Definitely love this thing, it's by far my favorite flip-knife, so easy to open with one hand, the shape of the knife is great, and the handle is nice and sturdy.
Bought my wife one as well, she loves hers just as much as I love mine.
Thanks, Gerber :)
this is an amazing knife i have bin using it for a while know and have had no problems perfect for ant job u need it for
This knife was very sharp out of the box but I sharpened it a little with my owner sharpener just to make sure that I was getting everything out of it. The only issue i've had with it in the past 6 days of ownership is that it swings extremely fast and if you don't use the thumb peg to open it (you use your hand trying to unfold it) I sliced my thumb pretty badly, so yeah word to the wise just make sure you use the thumb pegs, they are there for a reason.
GREAT KNIFE COMPANY. THE GARBER BRAND WILL ALWAYS BE A GREAT COMPANY. THERE KNIVES ARE MADE VERY WELL AND THEY HOLD UP TO THERE STANDARDS. I WILL GET OTHER GARBER PRODUCTS IN THE NEAR FUTURE. TO GARBER WAY TO GO KEEP UP THE GROOD WORK.
Very Great knife to own. I have the Garber bear and it is a great knife as well. I would love to own this knife as well because it is light and would be easter to carry on hiking, fishing and camping trips. So, to Garber and there great knive. Keep up the great work on a very great product.
for the money this knife is well worth it its strong light and not to big or to small i used to carry a para frame but this knife is far superior i can't even tell its in my pocket and it fits my hand well very controllable handle all it has to do is last and it will be the best pocket knife yet
Most my friends own st least one of these knives and they say they live up to the Heep.. I've seen them go through lots and they realy are awesome...and I wont one.
this is a great knife. too bad i wont be able to take it to basic training but it will be waiting for me after two months and it is a must have. i also have taken it hiking and hunting. fast access sharp as hell, even my wife loved it she got herself one. keep it up Gerber
this is an amazing knife fits the hand perfectly and is more than what it is sold for. Amazing job Gerber
I just purchased this knife 8 hours ago and i can't put it down. The style and performance has just blown me away.
THIS IS A MUST HAVE KNIFE IF YOUR WORK REQUIRES BOTH HANDS FULL OR IF YOU JUST WANT TO HAVE A GOOD EDC KNIFE!
GET IT NOW!!!= )
My only wish is that they would either have the button on both sides, or make a left handed version of the knife, as I am left handed.
Just purchased this knife and it is well made, tight and sharp. I would give it 4 1/2 stars only for the reason that the thumb stud catches on the lip of my jeans pocket when drawing it. If it
i am going to get this knife soon and so why i picked it is because it is a gerber assisted opening pocket knife, its just want i need for around the farm
Its a great knife, the only thing i dont like about it is that the spring is a little tight out of the box. I recommend putting a little oit in the mechanism so it makes it easier to open. Otherwise its light, its dependable, and i would carry this everyday.
Great EDC for the money. Blade could have been made from a stronger material. but over all a great knife!
I'm not normally a sucker for adveritising but the Instants "Trouble" video peaked my interest. I saw it this morning and bought the knife this evening. What a well thought out design! The handle fits the hand perfectly, the release mechanism is perfect for a shotgunner like me (it functions the same as a cross block trigger safety) and the opening mechanism is out of this world! I'm talking fast!!! Jesse thought the dual thumbstuds is a problem, but the thumbstuds actually lock into the frame when open, preventing the blade from over extending. For design alone, I'm giving this 5 stars, but we'll see how she holds up.
amazing knife one thing isthere is no lock iwear my daily on my belt but with this i have had to start wearing in my pocket other than that its awsome super sharp and super quick when deploying
Great knife its the perfect size for every day carry its lighter than other knives i have had the assisted opening is great and it may seem small but the pocket clip is the best i have ever had usually they are too tight and impossible to just slip on and off but in short its a great knife expecially if your cheap like me and want a good knife without paying too much
Just purchased this knife and it is well made, tight and sharp. I would give it 4 1/2 stars only for the reason that the thumb stud catches on the lip of my jeans pocket when drawing it. If it had a single stud that was reversible for left or right handed users instead of a stud on both sides it would be easier to draw.
Haven't even owned it 24 hours, but I've been familiarizing myself with it and I quite enjoy the snappy opening of the blade and the sharpness of it. It seems like good quality craftsmanship, time will tell. The price seems right, I went to Dick's in Plainfield IN to purchase a SOG Trident but wound up getting this instead. The blade is nice and TIGHT, by the way and not loose as seen on some other pricey knives.
