Rugged, managable, multi filter.. i mean it works perfect for me... 40 lumens... clearly not the brightest... but for the size and the versatility its worth it.

Perfect for what it is intended for:
* Back up light with low output to preserve NVIS.
* Runs on the same cells as my Eotechs (a plus)
* Can be operated with one hand with practice - perfect practice makes perfect
* Size is ideal for the hand and the job. Can hold it in your mouth easily as well, or clip it to gear for a longer job.
* Take several sets of back up batteries and use it for its purpose - a back-up light - quick checks and mini emergencies.
* Goes great with the kit.

Issued this light, and will not use it. Cool it has the IR option but the run time, and the lumens is a joke. Shop around before you buy this. I gave it two stars for the different light options, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Kirk to answer your question it takes camera batteries, those 123 cells, its kinda picky though. i bought some from Radio shack that didnt work (CR123 cells), but then i bought some duracell 123s, thats what the batteries say on them, can find them any where they sell batteries. Those work just fine

I am a firm believer that the best 'tactical flashlights' are made by a very well known California-based company. HOWEVER, this Gerber light is a GREAT piece of kit and it proved itself in high-risk enviroments. No jams, no NDs, no breaking. Good job Gerb
