The compact evolution of the knife that inspired innovation and helped define a brand, this tanto blade version features the lightning-quick F.A.S.T 2.0 opening mechanism. Sturdy thumbstuds make one-hand opening a cinch, while the reliable plunge lock secures the blade in use and storage.
Traveling light and being prepared are not mutually exclusive when you have the Gerber Mini F.A.S.T. Draw Tanto sitting comfortably in your pocket or on your belt. At less than 2 ounces, this folding tactical knife weighs less than your average collection of keys and is far more capable. The Mini gets the same attention to detail as its full-size sibling, including Gerber’s proven Assisted Opening 2.0 mechanism and safety plunge lock.
An everyday carry tactical knife needs to do more than just offer a reliable blade. It needs to be tough enough to handle the routine and unexpected problems. It should also, like any well-designed tool, foster a comfortable and confident grip that lets you focus on the task at hand. It’s the Mini’s modest size that helps it rise to these demands. Its 2.1-inch tanto-style blade is practical yet truly effective, and together with its molded nylon grip makes for a tool that simply disappears into your pocket until you need it.
PROVEN ASSISTED OPENING MECHANISM
Your job is easier when your tools work easily and as expected and Gerber’s Assisted Opening 2.0 mechanism offers proven one-handed blade engagement. Simply lever the thumb stud to open the blade quickly and positively. The reliable plunge lock keeps the blade fixed when open, and makes for safe, easy closure without putting your fingers in the path of the folding blade.
TANTO POINT WITH SERRATED UTILITY
Modest in size, the tanto blade is ever ready to puncture, cut and perform as the job demands. Partial serration adds utility for working through stubborn materials like knots or thick plastic, where a sawing action can be helpful. Its stealth matte black finish means no reflective blade issues, and an added layer of protection for the blade over the long term.
overall a good little knife. i had mine for about 2 months and i use it everyday. the "assisted opening technology" works good not too hard, not too easy. the only downside i have found, the blade could of been made of better steel. it's easy to sharpen but doesn't hold an edge very good.
I liked the mini fast draw a lot but after a year and a half or so the AO spring broke. The knife is still usable but .... I guess my next knife wouldn't be made in China :P
Not a fan. Spring assist actually makes it harder to get it started. My thumb slipped off the stud and onto the blade once the spring engaged, resulting in a bloody mess. The Evo JR. was better. Mini Draw is suitable for whittling, but not reliable for defense.
Great blade Gerber! I own multiple Gerber blades including the first mini fast draw model. This is a great modification. The change from the switch safety/lock mechanism to the plunge lock makes a huge difference in functionality and ease of use. The tanto design is perfect for a self defense blade and the assisted opening helps with quick deployment. The day after I got this blade I ran it through a wide variety of materials. Carpet, wood (both lumber and tree limbs) plastic, paper, wicker, clothing, seatbelts, and even broke a piece of tempered glass. Not a scratch or ding on the thing! This is by far my favorite knife to date, and with the pocket clip I can be sure it's always by my side. I would recommend this and it's bigger brother to anyone who needs a tough and reliable edc/defense blade. Give the guy who thought of this idea a raise.
